The Effect of Transportation Sector on Economic Growth with Social Accounting Matrix (SAM)

Abstract

Today, transportation is one of the most important sectors of the economy and because of effects short-run, medium term and long-run that have on economic main variables such as production, employment, prices and living cost index, have high position in country. Therefore the survey of this sector is necessary because of the effects of economic-social on other economic sectors and distribution income. Thus in this article we has been used accumulated Social Accounting Matrix for 15 sectors in 1385. The results show that indirect effects of development policies in transportation and communication sectors are greater than its direct effects. And Investment in this sector provides development for other sectors. The increase highest in factor income is related to labor income. So this sector is labor intensive and development policies decrease unemployment in society. Between different groups of workers, the most increase of income is related mixed incomes that show most of the workers that employed in this sector are self-employed. Development policies in transportation and communication sectors have led income increase in rural and city households and institutional income distribution is more equaled and therefore positive social effects have.
