Assessing the Tourism Competitiveness of the Middle East In terms of transportation infrastructure

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the tourism of the Middle East countries in terms of having air transport infrastructure, Ground infrastructure and port and infrastructure of tourism services. This assessment is done in two steps. First, country scores are calculated separately in each infrastructure using the Prometheus model. Second, the overall situation of countries is calculated and the rates obtained are compared in 2015 and 2017. The research findings showed that Terrain and port infrastructure relative to air transport infrastructure and the tourism services infrastructure is in a better position. Also found the findings However, apart from Cyprus, all of the studied countries have had a high upward trend in tourism development than in 2015 However, only the UAE, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have a favorable situation. The UAE has been at the top of the Middle East's tourist infrastructure for both countries at both times. The output of this research can be a strategy for tourism development planners in the Middle East based on the results of the Prometheus model.
