The development of e-commerce in recent years has played an important role in improving the performance of the road transport sector through the transformation of logistics processes, information exchange and supply chain management. The present study aimed to investigate the impact of e-commerce-related tools and infrastructures on the added value of road transport in the provinces of Iran. The research data were collected in the form of a panel for 31 provinces of the country during the period 2010-2023, which includes a total of 558 observations. The dependent variable of the study is the added value of road transport and the independent variables include the number of road traffic counters, the number of weighing systems in motion and the number of waybills issued. Panel data models were used to analyze the data. The results of the F-limer test confirmed the existence of a panel structure and the Hausman test also showed the appropriateness of the fixed effects model. Also, the results of the diagnostic tests confirmed the existence of variance heterogeneity; Therefore, the final model estimation was performed using White cross-section robust standard errors. The research findings showed that the number of road traffic counters, the number of weighing systems in motion and the number of waybills issued have a positive and significant effect on the value added of road transport. Accordingly, the development of intelligent transport systems, expanding road surveillance coverage, strengthening information infrastructure, and increasing transparency in the waybill issuance process can lead to improved efficiency, reduced transaction costs, and increased value added in the road transport sector. Therefore, it is suggested that policymakers focus on integrating information systems, developing intelligent transport technologies, and strengthening electronic mechanisms for recording and monitoring cargo transport operations.
